OVERVIEW: This run takes you through Doll’s Head Trail, the coolest, strangest trail in Atlanta where found objects have been turned into folk art. Plan to stop for a lot of photos on your first trip and if you find any “trash” on your run, be sure to turn it into art. You will also run a boardwalk across a beautiful wetland and have views of Constitution Lakes. Do not run on the train tracks as trains come through frequently and they are moving very fast.
TRAILS: 1.75 mile loop with very little elevation
TERRAIN: Mostly packed dirt and mud with some paved and boardwalk
BATHROOMS: No
WATER: No
PARKING: Ample and free (don’t leave valuables in sight, there have been car break-ins)
HOURS: Gate is locked at sunset

If you take the Rail Ridge trail to the river and cross it (the river), there is a great network of trails/logging roads if you go up the hill next to the tracks. You can run all the way to the prison farm, the R/C field, and hook up with the S. River trail.
Yes!! You obviously know the area well. I’ve connected the three parks a couple times, but need to spend more time exploring the prison farm before I map and post a route. I think there’s potential for 12-15 miles of trail. If you ever want to show me around the area, just shoot me an email. I live pretty close by.
